Sam Smith Cancels Remaining Australian Tour Dates

Sam Smith has cancelled the remaining dates on his current Australian tour, after suffering a haemorrhage on his vocal chords following his two shows this week.

“Frontier Touring regret to advise that on doctor’s orders, SAM SMITH has been forced to cancel all remaining dates for his Australian tour, including an appearance at the 57th TV WEEK Logie Awards,” reads a statement from the promoters.

Smith is expected to reschedule a new Australian tour for December 2015, and promoters have said that new dates will be announced very shortly.

“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small haemorrhage on my vocal chords,” said Smith

“The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me.”

Smith is still in Australia, after playing a sold out show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion last night and another show in Brisbane earlier this week.

His vocal haemorrhage didn’t seem to be affecting his dancing skills this morning though, when he tweeted to US rapper and singer Brooke Candy that he was “dancing around naked” to her song Opulence.

Although now short-lived, Smith’s visit to Australia has helped propel his debut album In the Lonely Hour to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time, almost a year after it was released.

Refunds to all remaining Sam Smith shows will be available. Details below.
