Slipknot Confirm Eloy Casagrande As Their New Drummer

It’s official. Iconic metal drummer Eloy Casagrande has indeed joined Slipknot after abruptly exiting Sepultura in the midst of their global farewell tour.

After months of mounting rumours, Slipknot finally confirmed the news this week, posting a photo of Casagrande in his shiny new ‘knot mask and formerly welcoming him into The Nine.

“Slipknot officially welcomes @eloycasagrande”

Casagrande has since issued his own statement about the new gig, writing: “It’s an exciting moment. Unthinkable until then. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to win. There is just living. We’re here as one”.

He continued: “Thank you Slipknot for trusting me. Thanks all the maggots and fans around the world. See you on the road. Here comes more pain.”

Said pain will be making its way to Australia early next year, after Slipknot recently confirmed they’ll be returning down under to headline Knotfest 2025.

Casagrande’s move to Slipknot also completes a three-way game of metal drummer musical chairs. Three of the world’s biggest metal bands – Slipknot, Sepultura and Suicidal Tendencies – have all officially traded tub-thumpers.

After 13 years behind the kit for Sepultura, Casagrande left the group in February to join Slipknot, replacing drummer Jay Weinberg who was unceremoniously ousted from the band late last year. Then in March, Weinberg announced he was linking up with Suicidal Tendencies to replace their beatman Greyson Nekrutman, who had just been announced as the new drummer for – yep – Sepultura.
