Songs hit the road this September in preparation for the release of their new radio single Different Light. Over the last twelve months Sydney based Songs have built a solid live following playing with the likes of internationals such as Deerhunter, Adam Green, Beach House, The Bats and Australian friends like Love of Diagrams, St Helens and Witch Hats.
Three quarters of Songs hail from across the pond and in the grand tradition of the great Kiwi bands (The Bats, The Clean, The Chills, The Verlaines) Songs make perfect, bright almost criminally blissful pop for those of us with short attention spans. Their debut EP recorded in 2007 evinces the jangly, raucous guitars and bounce not heard since Tally Ho or Made Up In Blue and should be an instant addition to the pantheon of classic Antipodean pop.
2008 saw some live forays up and down the east coast of Australia and back to NZ with time set aside to write and record the debut album recorded by Casey Rice (Tortoise, Joan of Arc, Aleks and the Ramps, Ground Components) at Sydney’s BJB Studios for release on Popfrenzy later in 2009.
