Soundwave Teases ‘Justice League Of Rock’ Supergroup Announcement

UPDATE: The second Soundwave 2015 lineup announcement has landed, along with the supergroup — full details here.

Soundwave 2015 chief AJ Maddah has teased the announcement of a supergroup on the impending second lineup for the 2015 event. Although the promoter has yet to mention any names, speculation has already begun.

“You want supergroups? We have got supergroups!,” wrote the promoter on Twitter last night. “#SW15 #JusticeLeagueOfRock,” he added. Since unleashing the hashtag onto the twitterverse, fans on social media have already started guessing on who the mystery supergroup, or groups, may be.

One suggestion is new supergroup Dead Men Walking, whose core members include The Living End‘s Chris Cheney, Captain Sensible of The Damned, Slim Jim Phantom of Stray Cats and Mike Peters of the Alarm. The band’s special guests include Saturday Night Live alumni and comedian Fred Armisen as well as Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses.

Just last month the band played a couple of shows in Los Angeles and according to their website they are currently taking a short hiatus. The site does however promise “lots and lots of tour dates” in the near future.

Another possibility is international rock supergroup The Dead Daisies who have announced plans to hit the road again for a number of shows across Australia and New Zealand this November and December. The band includes of New Zealander Jon Stevens (Noiseworks, INXS), Australian David Lowy (Mink) and America’s Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses). With a new single due out this month, The Dead Daises would be in good form for a Soundwave set.

Following the first Soundwave 2015 lineup announcement Maddah informed fans that there were still “around 14 bands” left over for a second reveal. The second announcement is expected to drop very soon.

The new names and the mystery supergroup will join the already massive two-day lineup which includes Faith No More, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Incubus, Slash, and Marilyn Manson. Scroll through the gallery below to find out who the supergroup might be.
