Kicking off on Friday, the first full day of Splendour will be headlined by none other than our very own Tame Impala. Making their long awaited return to the Ampitheatre, Kevin Parker and co. haven’t played the festival since 2015 in support of Currents. Having just dropped new track ‘Patience’, and debuting another track ‘Borderline’ on Saturday Night Live, it looks like they’ll be treating us to a whole slew of new music.
Also playing the Friday are the likes of Foals, Russ, Warpaint, Broods, FIDLAR, Meg Mac, Hayden James, Dave and loads more. Santigold and Slaves are also playing the Friday, and this will be the only chance to see them in Australia this year as they are performing no sideshows.
Saturday is being headlined by Childish Gambino, who is making up for his cancelled Aussie shows at the tail end of last year. Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Streets (!!!), Courtney Barnett, Wolf Alice, Friendly Fires, Dean Lewis and more.
On top of that, the ‘Mystery Oz Act’, which already has the Internet buzzing with rumours of who it could be, is playing on Saturday. It is unknown when the act will be revealed, but you can bet that it’ll be sure to draw a crowd regardless.
Finally, Chance The Rapper has the honour of closing out the festival in his first Australian performance in three or so years. On top of that, this will be a chance for Aussie fans to see him perform his new album, which is reportedly dropping in July.
Joining him on the Sunday is SZA, James Blake, The Lumineers, What So Not, Matt Corby, Cosmo’s Midnight, Ziggy Alberts, The Rubens and more.
