Stand Atlantic Score First-Ever ARIA #1 Album With ‘GODBREATH’

Stand Atlantic have officially conquered the ARIA Albums Chart, with their fifth studio album GODBREATH debuting at number one in Australia.

The Sydney punk favourites have scored their first-ever ARIA #1 album, capping off a remarkable upward trajectory that’s seen each successive record climb higher than the last.

Stand Atlantic – ‘So Cool’

Their 2020 album Pink Elephant peaked at #23, followed by F.E.A.R. at #10 in 2022 and Was Here at #3 in 2024.

Now, with GODBREATH, they’ve gone all the way to the top.

The album has also debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and #3 on the ARIA Vinyl Chart, making it one of the biggest milestones of the band’s career to date.

And understandably, Bonnie Fraser and co. are absolutely bloody stoked.

“Only gone n bloody done it.. GODBREATH is the #1 Album in Australia!!” the band wrote in a statement celebrating the achievement.

“Thank u for supporting us and Australian music!! Happy GODBREATH week to u all this is cool af and only possible bc of all of u, thank u thank u thank u.”

ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd also congratulated the four-piece on their historic achievement.

“Congratulations to Stand Atlantic on their first ARIA #1 album!” she said.

“Bonnie, David, Miki and Jonno have climbed higher with every record and this week they’ve gone all the way.”

The achievement also marks just the fourth Australian album to top the ARIA Albums Chart in 2026, following chart-topping releases from Karnivool, DMA’S and Angus & Julia Stone.

And there’s something particularly fitting about GODBREATH being the record that finally took Stand Atlantic to the summit.

Born out of a period of writer’s block, the album saw the band abandon preconceived notions of what their music should sound like, instead embracing a more instinctive, creatively liberated approach.

Across 11 tracks, the Sydney quartet blend their signature pop-punk energy with heavier rock influences, infectious alternative-pop hooks and some of their most emotionally candid songwriting to date.

The entire album was also tracked live, capturing the natural chemistry and imperfections of a band playing together rather than chasing studio perfection.

Recent singles including Velcro, EDGE OF VEGAS, NEXT2U and LUCID offered a glimpse into that creative evolution, exploring everything from romantic devotion and chosen family to self-acceptance and the freedom to embrace change.

Meanwhile, the album’s release was accompanied by the single SO COOL, a swaggering rock anthem co-written by Fraser and producer Stevie Knight.

“I wrote ‘So Cool’ with Stevie Knight in Sydney, on an unusually dreary summer day, when we were in the depths of a creative rut,” Fraser explained.

“The instrumental version came first and we just knew the vibe was cool, so I wanted to hone in on that and play on the idea of ‘coolness’.”

She described the track as a song designed to make listeners feel like they’re “in the VIP section of life”.

And with a number-one album now under their belts, that sentiment feels particularly appropriate.

The chart triumph comes amid another massive year for Stand Atlantic, who’ve continued to build their international profile with headline dates across Europe, UK shows supporting Simple Plan and appearances on the Vans Warped Tour.

The band are also wrapping up their Australian album tour, with a final show scheduled for Sunday, 1st November at Metropolis in Perth, before heading back to the United States for more performances, including dates with Story Of The Year and Silverstein.

Elsewhere on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart, fellow Australian artists Dan Sultan and Boo Seeka also cracked the top 10 with their latest releases.

Sultan’s Little Miracles debuted at #5, while Boo Seeka’s Cigarettes On Sundown entered at #10.

But this week, the top spot belongs to Stand Atlantic.

From #23 to #10 to #3 to #1, it’s been a steady climb to the summit for one of Australia’s most successful modern alternative rock exports.

And now they’ve got the chart-topping album to prove it.
