Tame Impala Shares Official Acoustic Version Of ‘On Track’

Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker has shared an official video that sees him performing ‘On Track’ acoustically.

The stripped-back rendition is similar to the one he performed back in April as part of the Music From the Home Front livestream ANZAC Day concert, which saw a slew of artists – also including DMA’S, Tones and I, Delta Goodrem and Crowded House – come together to perform remotely from their own homes.

‘On Track’ comes from most recent Tame Impala album The Slow Rush, which parker and co. released back in February of this year. While the album version is a hazy wash of synth and drums, the acoustic version takes the song to its core elements and makes lyrics like “I know it’s been a slow year / Nothing much to show here” all the more impactful.

Parker has been keeping relatively busy throughout the pandemic. Back in May, the multi-instrumentalist appeared remotely from his home to perform Slow Rush cut ‘Is It True’ for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The multi-tracked performance saw Kev handle bass, guitar and vocal duties in three separate, synced-up takes against a colourful split-screen background.
