The Amity Affliction Say Nup To Playing Melbourne’s Festival Hall Again After Hillsong Takeover

Looks like we won’t be seeing The Amity Affliction hit the stage at Melbourne’s Festival Hall again any time soon.

Frontman Joel Birch has confirmed the band is boycotting the iconic live music venue after it was bought up by the Hillsong Church for $23 million AUD in one of the least rock n’ roll things ever to happen.

The megachurch’s leaders confirmed that, while the venue would continue to host live music events, on Sundays it would also become “the House of God”.

And Birch, for one, is not keen.

“I don’t want any Amity shows giving any money to Hillsong, so see ya later then Festival Hall,” he tweeted in response to the news.

Amity last played the venue back in 2017 as part of their This Could Be Heartbreak album tour.

RIP.
