The Avalanches Share Full Audio From Their First Gig In 15 Years

Aussie legends The Avalanches made their triumphant return to the stage at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival earlier this month, and they’ve just gifted fans with an hour-long audio file of the glorious set.

Footage of The Avalanches’ Primavera performance has already hit the interwebs, but the crystal-clear audio of the performance (below) sees the group spin tracks like Tonight, A Different Feeling and Frontier Psychiatrist while sampling the likes of David Bowie, Nina Simone, Television and Jamie xx.

Posting the audio to SoundCloud today, The Avalanches told fans that they put their vinyl-based Primavera show together only an hour before they were meant to go on stage, after “visa fuckups” meant they couldn’t perform as a full live band.

“Thank fuck we had our vinyl with us,” the band say. “Special thanks and much love to Jamie xx who came through for us with the classic ‘good times’ acapella at the last moment!

“Mixing is ruff as fuck but that’s the way we roll. None of this ableton bullshit, this is punk rock kids! Was a great night and won’t forget the love you showed us primavera xx.”

The Avalanches are set to perform at Splendour In The Grass this July, where they’ll hopefully have enough time to get their full live setup prepped and primed. Speaking in a rare interview with Beats 1 earlier this month, the group said they’re putting together two different shows — a live band show and a DJ show.

The Avalanches’ second studio album Wildflower, the follow-up to their 2000 debut album Since I Left You, is due out on 8th July. The band have already shared the album’s lead single Frankie Sinatra and its fellow album cut If I Was A Folkstar, featuring Toro Y Moi.
