The Beautiful Monument Return With Long-Awaited New Album ‘Euphoric Thriller’

After more than seven years between albums, Australian emo-rock favourites The Beautiful Monument are officially back – and they’re returning bigger, darker and more emotionally explosive than ever.

The band have today announced their long-awaited third studio album Euphoric Thriller, due out Friday August 7 via Greyscale Records, alongside the release of its sultry and emotionally charged title track (stream below).

The Beautiful Monument – ‘Euphoric Thriller’

If recent singles Dancing With The Buried and Cry About It hinted that The Beautiful Monument were entering a bold new era, Euphoric Thriller feels like the moment everything fully locks into place.

Described by vocalist Lizi McIntosh as “an emotional rollercoaster” built from “unreleased diary entries”, the album dives headfirst into grief, mental health, identity, survival and the exhausting reality of existing in an increasingly hostile world – but crucially, without losing the band’s sharp sense of catharsis and release.

“If we don’t laugh we cry,” McIntosh explains, “so why not have a good time while internally wallowing in the fiery pits of hell that is the current state of the world.”

The album’s title track perfectly captures that tension between darkness and euphoria. Built around hypnotic verses, soaring hooks and a slick guitar solo, Euphoric Thriller explores the toxic push-pull relationship between a person and their depression.

“It lulls you into a false sense of security and makes you believe that you are not you without it,” McIntosh says. “But deep down you know you need to run.”

It’s the kind of emotionally raw songwriting The Beautiful Monument have built their rep on over the years – balancing vulnerability, heaviness and massive melodic payoff in a way that feels deeply personal without ever losing its punch.

Over the past twelve months, the band have been quietly rebuilding and reconnecting, working alongside producer Chris Lalic (Windwaker, RinRin, Headwreck) to craft what they’re describing as some of their favourite material to date.

And judging by the response so far? Fans have been more than ready.

The Melbourne four-piece – comprised of Lizi McIntosh, Amy McIntosh, Alex Manhire and Adam Pinzone – have steadily carved out their place as one of Australia’s most beloved alternative acts, sharing stages with everyone from Evanescence through to Sleeping With Sirens, while also becoming festival favourites at events like Good Things Festival, Download Festival and UNIFY Gathering.

They’re currently midway through a national tour supporting Hellions, before setting sail later this year on Destroy All Lines’ HELLBOUND CRUISE.

And with Euphoric Thriller finally on the horizon, it feels very much like The Beautiful Monument are stepping into a powerful new chapter – one forged equally from pain, resilience and the beautifully chaotic act of surviving it all.
