The Griswolds Sign With Wind-Up Records – Plan Overseas Shows During May

Sydney group The Griswolds have agreed on a deal with one of the world’s biggest indie rock labels, Wind-Up Records (via Chugg Entertainment’s new music arm Chugg Music). The deal will see their new label handle all their business in all territories outside of Australia and New Zealand, and hopefully expose them to an international market.

The band’s 2012 single Heart Of A Lion, was an instant hit in Australia, having been immediately added into high rotation on triple j upon its release, and ended up as one of the station’s most played tracks of the year. So naturally, it’s also tipped to do well internationally having already airplay in over 20 countries worldwide and landing the #12 spot on We Are Hunted’s emerging chart. A digital release in the US will be made available from July 9th.

The band recently wrapped up sold-out shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide for their Courtship Of Summer Preasley tour, named after their most recent single. The track gives Vampire Weekend a run for their money with its cheery upbeat melody and lilting lyrical delivery.

Now they’ll take on American audiences over the next week with shows at MUSEEXPO on May 5th, NARM on May 8th, The Viper Room on May 9th and finally in New York at the Mercury Lounge on May 13th before heading to the UK, where they will be playing some key international festivals, including The Great Escape and London Calling.

We recently had the pleasure of seeing them perform live in the studio where they performed the latest single The Courtship Of Summer Preasley followed by Aurora, Mississippi, which is also featured on their EP, which matches up nicely with the finales Red Tuxedo and Heart Of A Lion. Enjoy.
