The Gum Ball 2014 Second Lineup Announcement

Written by Greg Moskovitch on January 22, 2014

The organisers of the massive Gum Ball 2014 managed to secure an eclectic and talented lineup for their first announcement of the event’s 10th anniversary, including Hoodoo Gurus and Jinja Safari, they’ve now done one better, adding King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Ed Kuepper, and more!

The second instalment of bands for this unique and independent Aussie boutique festival experience, which offers music, arts and good times among the scenic country surrounds of ‘Dashville’ in Lower Belford, is a testament to the organisers’ passion for mixing genres and providing quality local talent.

The latest masterfully curated list of additions kicks off with young Melbourne-based fuzzbox abusers, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, who recently announced the upcoming release of their fourth studio album Oddments, which is slated to be unveiled on 19th April.

Co-founder of The Saints, Ed Kuepper, will also be making his way down to Lower Belford. One of Australia’s most beloved bands, Brisbane’s The Saints are considered elemental in the formation of Australia punk rock scene and are best known for their 1977 classic, (I’m) Stranded.

Meanwhile, Mia Dyson will make her return to The Gum Ball as part of the three-piece of Dyson, Stringer and Cloher. Hailing from Ireland, Damien Dempsey will be adding some more international muscle to the lineup, with the rest of the second bill populated by noteworthy locals.

Organisers have secured Melbourne’s The Hello Morning, as well as The Soorleys, Tropical Zombie, The Dennis Boys Band, and Gum Ball supergroup Dashville Progress Society, all hailing from New South Wales. All of this is set amidst the event’s family-friendly and laid-back atmosphere.

The Gum Ball 2014 takes place over the first weekend of the April school holidays, giving families a chance to get away before the madness of Easter begins. Readers can check out the full lineup and all venue and ticketing details, below, and follow our Gum Ball 2014 Feed, here.
