The Hives have announced some sideshows on the back of their appearance on the Falls Festival 2013 lineup, and Marion Bay and Lorne over the new year. They’ll be playing three shows in total, including: The Tivoli in Brisbane on 22nd January; The Forum in Melbourne on 6th January; and the Metro in Sydney on 7th January.
Their new album Lex Hives has received worldwide praise since its release in June. It contains 12 tracks, including the singles, Go Right Ahead and Wait a Minute Now. The band funded, recorded and produced the album themselves, claiming that it was a quicker process than working with people who are bust 24/7, 365 days a year.
Frontman Pelle has said of the rest of the album: “I guess the idea is just to make it as Hives as possible, whereas the last record was The Hives shooting into the stratosphere and trying different things. Now…I hate it when people make ‘back to basics’ albums, that’s not what it is, it’s something else. But it’s more of us.”
The Hives will be in Australia this New Year’s Eve, playing on the Falls Festival 2012/2013 lineup in Lorne and Marion Bay. Tickets for their sideshows go on sale 9am Friday, 12th October.
