The Weeknd Says His Fifth Album “Should Be Done By The End Of This Month”

The Weeknd has offered an update on his forthcoming fifth studio record. Not much is yet known about the record, including its name, however he has given us a status report of where he’s at.

Speaking earlier last week with The Hollywood Reporter, the Canadian musician was asked by the publication about the new album, which fans have speculated could be titled The Dawn Is Coming.

“I’m finishing the new album right now,” he said.

“It should be done by the end of this month and we’re just kind of figuring out when to put it out.”

“It’s been really cool because I’m working on this album this summer simultaneously with the writer’s room for the new TV show,” he said, speaking about his upcoming show with HBO Max which stars, and is co-written by him.

“So, I’ve been kind of going back and forth from finishing the album and pending up the show that we’re going to start shooting soon. It’s been quite a summer.”

The TV show, which is reportedly titled The Idol, is executive produced by The Weeknd, and co-written with himself, and Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson.

According to Variety, the series follows a female pop singer who begins a romance with an elusive L.A. club owner who is also the leader of a secret cult.

Earlier this month, The Weeknd’s clip for his latest single ‘Take My Breath’ was pulled from being shown in IMAX Theatres due to ‘intense strobe lighting’.
