These 15 Acts Are Your Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees For 2016

Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A., The Smiths and Chic are among 15 influential acts who have been announced as nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame‘s class of 2016.

Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A. and The Smiths all missed out on being inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2015, despite being eligible for the nod. Chic, on the other hand, have now been nominated a record ten times.

To be eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, an act’s first recording must have been released at least 25 years ago. The public, along with a team of artists, historians and music industry representatives, then vote to determine a top five, who will be inducted into the prestigious Hall Of Fame in 2016.

As Alternative Nation points out, acts like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Jane’s Addiction have not been nominated even though they are now eligible for the gong. Pearl Jam, however, won’t be eligible until the class of 2017.

2015’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees included the likes of Green Day, Lou Reed, Bill Withers and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Catch this year’s nominees in the gallery below, and vote for your favourites at the Rock Hall website.
