This 15-Year-Old Grime Fan Has Become The Hero Of Glastonbury 2019

The UK’s Splendour In The Grass-on-steroids AKA Glastonbury Festival has been absolutely chockas with blockbuster moments this year: from Miley Cyrus wheeling out her dad Billy Ray and Lil Nas X to perform ‘Old Town Road’, to our girl Kylie Minogue bringing down the house with a landmark Chris Martin and Nick Cave-featuring performance 14 years on from pulling out of the festival due to a battle with breast cancer, to human meme and piano maverick Jeff Goldblum delighting crowds with some jazz classics.

But it was a random 15-year-old punter in a bucket hat that arguably stole the show.

Bumbag-wearing teen Alex Mann bravely volunteered his services during grime artist Dave’s set, after the rapper asked if anyone was sober enough to rap along to his 2016 hit ‘Thiago Silva’ (Alex just-so-happened to be wearing the actual jersey of PSG football star Thiago Silva, which undoubtedly bolstered his chances).

“He looks like he knows the lyrics, yeah, let’s take a chance on him,” Dave told the Glasto crowd. “Yeah, he’s wearing a Thiago Silva shirt, let’s get him up here.”

And get up there he did, and the kid frickin nailed it, taking on more than just the suggested AJ Tracey feature verse and sending the crowd bonkers.
