Newcastle’s boutique music festival This That has expanded its maiden lineup by adding local post-rock outfit Majora to its bill, which already included the likes of RÜFÜS, Birds Of Tokyo, Sticky Fingers and Tkay Maidza.
Majora join the 2015 This That lineup after taking out a competition run by triple j Unearthed. The four-piece, who combine characteristics of progressive rock with post-rock’s intricate highs and lows, only formed earlier this year, and are pumped to play their first big festival show.
“Super-excited, all of us are. We never thought we’d get [the slot] at all… We’re stoked,” Majora guitarist Joshua Pascoe tells triple j.
Majora released their debut EP Iridescent in August, and are touring in support of the EP in the coming weeks, beginning with their first-ever Sydney show in October. The band are also currently working on their next EP.
“We don’t know when it’ll be out just yet,” Pascoe says. “Probably start of next year hopefully.”
