Tortoise Announce 2016 Australian Tour

Post-rock legends Tortoise have announced a run of headline dates for the southern hemisphere, where they’ll be servicing both Australia and its bros over the ditch in New Zealand this coming December.

After several years on the back-burner, the band have returned with their latest album The Catastrophist, which was commissioned by their home of Chicago city to showcase the towns rich tapestry of jazz and other live music.

The album also had the first snippets of vocals from the otherwise instrumental group, with Yo La Tengo and U.S Maple providing said vocals on select tracks. That said, the album still exists well and truly in the heavy atmosphere of post-punk’s orbit.

Containing prog-rock stylings with elements of jazz, dub, punk and Krautrock, Tortoise were unlike anything before them, and after. Best catch them before they go quiet again.
