Now, they’ve shared that Lucindale in South Australia will play host on Saturday, 14th September.
For those unaware, Lucindale is a town on the South Australian Limestone Coast. It’s a few hours from Adelaide, and has a population of roughly 500. It’s the first time the series has been in South Australia, with the last time being Tumby Bay back in 2011.
The tiny town has been running a pretty lengthy grassroots campaign to host One Night Stand, with a Facebook page launched back in 2012 racking up around 6,000 likes at present (everyone in the town, as well as neighbouring ones.)
“We are very excited to have been selected to host the triple j One Night Stand featuring some of Australia’s best acts”, says Lucindale mayor Erika Vickery OAM. “We’re looking forward to showing off Lucindale to the rest of Australia. This is an opportunity for our young people to experience a fantastic event which provides a platform to highlight the youth in our community. This event will show that small communities, such as Lucindale, can do incredible things.”
Don’t fret if you’re not one of Lucindale’s 500 residents and can’t make it there. triple j will be live broadcasting the best bits on radio plus the triple j app come Saturday, 14th September, as well as sharing videos, photos and news online throughout the day.
You can also watch One Night Stand highlights in a two-hour special edition of rage on ABC the following weekend, Saturday 21st September.
