NSW indie folk musician Dustin Tebbutt took time out from impressing cute temp music teachers (really) to blissfully start off your Friday with a calming, charming cover of Peter, Bjorn & John’s 2006 single Young Folks for triple j’s Like A Version.
Backed by members of Sydney band Little May, Tebbutt slowed down the uptempo neo-psychedelic track, turning the tune into a smooth, steamy affair that allowed the song to breath and its meaning to settle upon you.
Before launching into the cover Tebbutt revealed to Matt and Alex he had a connection to Peter, Bjorn & John, once getting drunk with the band’s drummer and turning down advice to buy shares in then fledgling music subscription service Spotify.
Tebbutt was a little more coy when it came to giving up details on his awaited debut LP, simply saying he is presently working on the album but unwilling to predict a release date.
Currently on tour as the support for Missy Higgins you can catch the Where I Find You singer throughout October in various cities and towns. Full tour details below.
