Watch Foo Fighters Cover Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’ at Intimate California Show

Earlier this week, the Foo Fighters performed a special intimate show at the Canyon Club, a venue in the Agoura Hills just outside Los Angeles.

During the gig, frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins swapped roles – Grohl getting behind the kit and Hawkins on vocal duties – to perform a cover of Queen‘s ‘Somebody to Love’.

A fan-shot video shows Hawkins saying that after initially suggesting they take on the classic song, most of the band felt unsure – apart from Grohl, who said, “Maybe we can.” The band proceed to shred through the iconic tune with appropriate gusto, Grohl even throwing in a killer drum solo.

The band’s Canyon Club gig was announced just a few days prior to it taking place, with tickets sold only to those who were fully vaccinated. It marked something of a warm-up gig for Grohl and co., who are set to play Madison Square Garden’s first full-capacity concert since the pandemic this weekend.

The concert, going ahead on Sunday, 20th June, will be free of restrictions like mask-wearing, social distancing and obviously capacity restrictions, with every attendee required to show proof of vaccination before entering the venue.

“We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year,” the band said when announcing the show. “And MSG is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together.”
