Weekend festivals draw weird and wonderful crowds but, you don’t usually see many senior citizens hit-up those sweaty music events.
In light of that, Funny Or Die sent four over 70 year-olds to Bonnaroo and they basically proved that you’re never too old to boogie down in a field.
At the beginning they’re a little apprehensive about the idea. One gets confused by the War On Drugs – “we’re on drugs?” – while another decides to take a power-nap backstage as the others get comfortable watching the festival from a television.
Eventually though they work up the stamina to get out and see the acts. “They’re hard to understand and when you do understand them you’re not sure you like them,” one says about rappers at the beginning of their experience, however, by the end the four of them get amongst it at Kendrick Lamar, waving their hands in the air like they just don’t care.
Age aside, it looks like the best festival experience ever. Backstage access means that along the way they get to hangout with Mumford & Sons, Ben Folds and Bleachers plus watch acts from side-of-stage.
When asked in the morning about the experience one remarks, “I’m still alive, I’m standing to tell the tale.”
Maybe it’s time you bought your grandparents a Splendour In The Grass ticket.
