Watch: Hermitude’s AMP Victory Shock Nearly Costs Them Their Dinner

Hermitude were yesterday crowned the winners of this year’s Australian Music Prize (AMP). The Blue Mountains boys beat out some fierce competition, including Flume, Tame Impala and The Presets, to walk away with the $30,000 prize.

Before Hermitude could even think about celebrating their victory, the duo of Elgusto (Angus Stuart) and Dubs (Luke Dubber) sat down with Music Feeds at The Basement in Sydney, the scene of the AMP announcement, to discuss life since the release of their award-winning album HyperParadise.

While speaking on the shock of the win (and their reaction’s almost-disastrous consequences), Hermitude are humble and gracious, while also ruminating on their plans for the prize money. With HyperParadise‘s performance transcending the pair’s expectations, the future is wide open for Hermitude as they look to begin work on new album this year.
