Watch The Last Shadow Puppets Cover The Smiths With Johnny Marr

During a recent show in Manchester, The Last Shadow Puppets have paid homage to the city’s incredible musical history by unfurling a rendition of local boys The Smiths’ tune Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me. Much to the delight of punters, the band was even joined by one of their own – Johnny Marr.

The Smith’s guitarist took to the stage for the performance along side Alex Turner,Miles Kane and their merry band of musicians. Of course, the true to form rendition was all caught on camera and you can check it out below.

But the story doesn’t end there. Apparently another member of The Smiths was in the audience. The band’s drummer Mike Joyce was amongst it and managed to catch the homage. Joyce took to Facebook to mention a truly cringe worthy moment between himself and a Last Shadow Puppets / The Smiths fan.

“So I’m at The Last Shadow Puppets gig tonight and Johnny Marr walks on and they play, ‘Last Night I Dreamt..’. The guy next to me says, ‘Seen the guy on the right with black hair? That’s Johnny Marr, the guitarist from The Smiths and this is a Smiths song they’re playing’. I didn’t say owt, I just couldn’t.”

Keeping the energy high, Johnny Marr actually stuck around for another performance, joining The Last Shadow Puppet’s Miles Kane to jam to The Fall’s Totally Wired. Check that out below also.
