Watch: Steve Buscemi Wants Vampire Weekend To Be Popular Like Peter Gabriel

Steve Buscemi has some constructive criticism for Vampire Weekend. And let’s face it – if you’re only able to afford a small classified ad in the paper to promote your new record, you’re gonna need all the help you can get.

After Buscemi discovered that bassist Chris Baio was his relative, the actor took it upon himself to drop in on a rehearsal session and offer Vampire Holiday Weekend some notes in an effort to widen the band’s fan base. Among his many, many suggestions, Buscemi advises that the songs could make more sense lyrically and offers to raise the band’s profile by doing a mail-out via the actor’s AOL account.

Of course, the whole thing is just a set-up to promote Vampire Weekend’s American Express Unstaged performance, which will be directed by Buscemi and live streamed on Sunday, 28th April. The clip is titled EP1 Steve Buscemi Meets the Band, so you can expect more Buscemi hilarity to come.

In the lead-up to the performance, Vampire Weekend and Buscemi were spotted together during the New York Easter Parade where Buscemi gave a brief but memorable performance of Vampire Weekend’s single Diane Young, the first single from their upcoming album Modern Vampires Of The City.
