Watch Tame Impala Debut Their New Material Live

With a new album on its way, Perth psych-rockers Tame Impala have kicked off their return to the live scene, and last night debuted their two new songs at their first live gig in five months.

Playing in California overnight on the first date of their US tour, the band took the chance to test drive their two most recent singles – the epic eight-minute track Let It Happen and the super soulful Cause I’m a Man. See fan-shot footage below.

Both tracks will appear on Tame Impala’s recently announced new album, Currents, the follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed Lonerism, which is due out later this year. The footage should provide Australian fans a preview of what the Perth rockers would offer should they make their way back home this year for a certain Byron Bay festival.

While Tame Impala are already scheduled to appear at a number of US and European festivals including Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Sasquatch, Bestival, and Lollapalooza Berlin, they have yet to announce any Australian dates and currently have a healthy gap in their international touring schedule, right around Splendour time.

For now though, check out how the new Tame Impala translates live in the footage below. Then check out all the other acts who have a shot at making the Splendour 2015 lineup in our Rumour Roundup.
