Last night’s APRA Awards (Australasian Performing Right Association) saw yet even more accolades handed over to Wally De Backer, more commonly known to his fans as Gotye.
As Music Feeds reported earlier today, Gotye took out the peer-voted APRA Song of the Year for his juggernaut single Somebody That I Used to Know.
The Australian/Belgian musician also took home the awards for Songwriter of the Year and Most Played Australian Work.
But the accepting of more praise and prizes wasn’t the only thing coming Goyte’s way. The solo artist also had the dubious honour of having Tina Arena and Tex Perkins perform a cover of Somebody That I Used to Know.
In a gender role reversal from the original song, Tina Arena sings the majority of the lyrics with Tex Perkins playing the role of Kimbra, only with a much deeper voice.
The unofficial footage is a recording of a screen, but you still get a pretty good idea of the performance, the quality of which we’ll let you be the judge.
