Green Day‘s “time capsule” documentary Heart Like A Hand Grenade, which charts the creation of their seventh studio album American Idiot, has dropped its first official trailer ahead of its long-awaited public release in October.
Heart Like A Hand Grenade‘s first official trailer (below) gives fans a glimpse into the nine months the film’s director John Roecker spent with the band as they wrote and recorded American Idiot, which would go on to win a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2005.
The trailer shows the band working out riffs, chatting with journalists and, of course, getting up to all kinds of antics both in the studio and on the road.
The public release of Heart Like A Hand Grenade was announced earlier this month, with Roecker saying the documentary “is like a fly on the wall art house piece”.
Heart Like A Hand Grenade is set for release on 15th October after screening at Californian film festivals on 8th and 13th October. Details of a possible Australian release are yet to be announced.

UPDATE 16/10/15: According to a press release on the Green Day website, Heart Like A Hand Grenade will be released in select Australian cinemas on 11th November 2015. The film will be released online and on DVD on 13th November.
