Watch The Killers’ Brandon Flowers Cover An INXS Classic

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers will next month release his second solo album, The Desired Effect, and while previewing some of his new material at a recent LA show, Flowers also busted out a cover of an Australian classic – INXS’ Don’t Change.

Flowers’ cover (below) stayed mostly faithful to the 1982 original which featured on INXS’ Shabooh Shoobah album, their first to be released internationally. The song is a comfortable fit for The Killers’ singer and it’s not difficult to connect INXS’ New Wave style, tinged with pop sensibilities, to Flowers’ own music.

In fact, according to Hit Fix, Flowers told the audience that the first band poster he ever bought was of INXS. “One of the things most profound about INXS is this song we’re about to cover, it has such a strong identity,” he reportedly added.

Brandon Flowers’ second solo album, The Desired Effect, is expected to be released in Austraia on Friday 15th May. It was recorded in The Killers’ Nevada studio and was produced by famed producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Kylie Minogue, Vampire Weekend, Beyonce). It’s set to feature guest appearances from Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant and HAIM singer Danielle Haim.
