We Finally Know When We’ll Be Getting New Music From Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend have been teasing us relentlessly about giving us new music, and now it looks like we finally know when we’ll hear some.

Consequence of Sound reports that the band will be releasing their highly-anticipated fourth album, the follow-up to 2013’s Modern Vampires Of The City on Sony as opposed to XL recordings, which has been the band’s label for over a decade.

In Sony’s quarterly financial statement, the label has said that the band will releasing a “noteworthy project” by the end of Q3 – Q3 ends on Sunday, 30th September. No word yet on whether this is just a lead single or an entire album, but either way it’s nice to have something finally set in stone.

Of course, Vampire Weekend just played a mammoth set at Splendour In The Grass in late July, and also performed a banging cover of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ at Japan’s Fuji Rock with the help of Haim’s Danielle Haim.
