The Weeknd Cans TV Slot To Escape Being In The Same Room As Donald Trump

As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. So, by that logic, The Weeknd‘s latest actions probably equate to the words “Fuck You, Donald Trump” blasted through an arena PA system.

The Can’t Feel My Face singer apparently chucked a mad bail on his scheduled Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance this week to protest His Supreme Comb-overness being booked to guest on the same episode.

As Stereogum reports, The Weeknd and rapper Belly – who co-wrote much of Beauty Behind The Madness – were set to perform their collab Might Not on Kimmel, but pulled the plug last minute after learning that Trump would be in attendance.

“I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world — from religion to race,” Belly said in a statement. “I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that the majority of us don’t agree with.”

He added: “For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I’m able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn’t right to me. At all.”

American jazz vocalist Greg Porter filled in for the Weeknd and Belly as the episode’s musical guest instead.
