Wheatus Slam Crowd Surfers

Wheatus have slammed crowd surfing following an incident at their show in Reading, UK overnight, calling it “obnoxious and reckless behaviour”. A young women suffered head and neck injuries when a member of the audience attempted to crowd surf in a bid to get closer to the front of the stage.

The band issued the following statement via tumblr:

“At the show tonight, a girl suffered a head and neck injury because someone decided to crowd-surf to the stage. To put it simply, this is unacceptable. Having fun and showing enthusiasm for the music is always something we encourage, of course, but when that enthusiasm puts other audience members at risk of injury, it can only be classed as obnoxious and reckless behaviour. Please DO NOT crowd-surf; you could easily hurt yourself, someone else, a member of the band, or damage the band’s gear, thus causing a disruption to the show. We don’t know the name of the girl who got hurt, but if anyone knows who she is, please let her know we all hope she’s okay!”
