After months of conflicting news reports regarding the future of the Wu-Tang Clan and of their long-awaited new album, A Better Tomorrow, the group have unveiled the first track to be taken from the record, Ron O’Neal. The whole group recently appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
In the midst of an apparent feud, Clan leader RZA issued an ultimatum to fellow member Raekwon back in April, telling his bandmate, who was “on strike,” that he had “30 days” to come to terms with the rest of the group or A Better Tomorrow may never see the light of day.
In May, the crew took to their official website to announce that RZA and Raekwon, who were reportedly feuding over the direction RZA was taking the hip-hop legends, had come to a truce. However, the post was later amended, indicating that the two rappers were merely talking.
Now it appears that Raekwon has rejoined the group and even appeared with the other eight members on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart recently. The group participated in a quick interview with the host before performing Ron O’Neal, which readers can finally check out below.
“I think it’s important as an athlete of music to make sure that you’ve got your business together, make sure you feel happy in whatever you do,” said Raekwon on the show. “You just want to feel good about it and at the end of the day you’ve gotta have your i’s dotted and your t’s crossed.”
“Because we have families,” the rapper continued. “We go out there and work for our families, so if I’m not gonna see my children and I’m out here doing a job, I think it’s important for me to go out there and do what I say I’m going to do, get back home to them and then hit up Disneyland.”
According to Rolling Stone, A Better Tomorrow is scheduled for release in November, though an official date has yet to be announced – the album was originally slated to be unveiled in July. The group is also readying their exclusive “$5-million album,” The Wu – Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.
