Kendrick Lamar Joins Bluesfest 2016 Lineup, Announces Australian Headline Shows

West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar is making his return to Australia, with this morning’s announcement that King Kunta himself has joined the 2016 Bluesfest lineup and will also play two of his own headline shows next March.

The Grammy-nominee will take the stage at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on March 21st, followed by Sydney’s Allphones Arena on March 23rd, before performing at the Byron Bay festival on Thursday March 24th. He joins a festival lineup that already includes The National, City and Colour, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones and more.

These will be Lamar’s first headline shows in Australia since touring on the back of Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City in December 2012 and his appearance as special guest on Eminem’s Rapture stadium tour last year. These will also be his first Australian shows since the release of his acclaimed latest album To Pimp a Butterfly.
