Perth producer Elk Road is the latest Aussie artist to swan into the triple j studios for a crack at Like A Version.
After performing his OG track Hanging By A Thread, the tunesmith (real name Rory Garton-Smith) enlisted the talents of singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell to tackle Flight Facilities‘ 2014 cracker Crave You.
But this was far from a straightforward rendition. Not only did Mitchell’s wispy vocals perfectly sub in for Giselle’s originals, Elk also sampled the guitar riff and some choice vocal lines from Tame Impala‘s The Less I Know The Better for a fresh Like A Version mashup.
The result was a seamlessly blended recipe for pure cool — a perfectly chilled cocktail of Aussie faves blended together to beautifully encapsulate the spirit of the station’s Aus Music Month, and one yummy psych-rock-electro-folk sandwich.
