Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Prince’s Old Band The NPG & More Announce Bluesfest Sideshows

UPDATE: A Bunch More Bluesfest 2018 Sideshows Have Just Been Announced

ORIGINAL STORY: Fresh from announcing the first acts on their 2018 lineup, the organisers behind Byron Bay Bluesfest have revealed a bunch of upcoming festival sideshows from the likes of Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and Prince‘s former backing band The New Power Generation.

Plant and his band The Sensational Space Shifters are set to perform in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth around their Bluesfest appearance, including two shows at the Sydney Opera House. The shows will feature music from across Plant’s career, include rare performances of Led Zeppelin hits.

The New Power Generation (The NPG), meanwhile, have plotted headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, where they’ll honour Prince with some of his biggest hits, alongside longtime musical director Morris Hayes.

Swedish singer-songwriter José González has announced sideshows in Sydney and Melbrouen, while English trip-hop and soul band Morcheeba have also announced Bluesfest sideshows in the same cities, while Gov’t Mule and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real are also teaming up for rock double-headers.

Today’s sideshow announcements come after Swedish duo First Aid Kit revealed plans for two Bluesfest sideshows of their own earlier this month.

Bluesfest 2018 will take place at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm just outside of Byron Bay over the Easter long weekend.
