The Beef Is Squashed, Kanye West And Drake Have Announced A Benefit Concert Together

Ye (fka Kanye West) and Drake‘s longstanding beef is well and truly squashed, with both rappers set to perform at a benefit concert at the Coliseum in Los Angeles next month.

Set to take place on Friday, 9th December, the purpose of the show is “raise awareness and support for Larry Hoover and the cause of prison and sentencing reform”. Hoover was formerly a leader of Chicago street gang Gangster Disciples, and is currently serving six life sentences after being found guilty of murder, extortion and other charges in 1997.

Last week, Ye and Drake posed for a photo together at the latter’s house, after Ye invited Drake to preform at the aforementioned benefit show for Hoover in a video with J. Prince.

“Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest,” Ye said in the video, referring to the beef that existed between the two artists for over a decade. Hoover’s son urged Drake to accept the offer at the time.

“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride aside and come together,” Ye commented in a new statement about the forthcoming concert.

Larry Hoover Jr. added: “With Ye, Drake and J Prince united to advocate for my father’s release, we can take our plea for redemption worldwide and show that we are truly stronger on behalf of any and everyone with a [loved] one wrongly or unjustly incarcerated… free my father!”

The performance will mark Drake’s first since his appearance during Travis Scott‘s set at Astroworld, which claimed the lives of ten people due to a tragic crowd crush incident. The rapper has been named (alongside Scott and Live Nation) in multiple lawsuits stemming from the incident, most recently a $750 million suit filed on behalf of 125 victims last week.

Drake released a statement responding to the tragedy itself earlier this month. “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all,” he wrote.
