Exclusive: Bertie Blackman’s Video For ‘Mercy Killer’

Music Feeds is kicking off your day today by offering you an exclusive peek at the video for Bertie Blackman‘s new single, Mercy Killer.

It’s the first taste of her forthcoming album Pope Innocent X, which is out later this year. The album has been described as: “visual, evocative storytelling: spiky, fertile pop…blended with electrifying sonic tales and other-worldly, dark dares”.

As for the single – Mercy Killer was born out of a cheeky mistake that Bertie made once upon a time. “It’s something I did once: deleted a text from someone’s phone without telling them”, she admitted.

“Franc (Tétaz, producer) was getting lots of stories out of me, and moments like that time, where you should feel regret or remorse…well, that was the only story I could think of that was slightly evil. We all have a darkness, and there’s nothing wrong with admitting that, sometimes, that side of you can be alright.”

Bertie Blackman is performing at Splendour in the Grass and will also do a handful of sideshows in July.
