Daft Punk Announce Deluxe Box Set Edition Of ‘Random Access Memories’

French robot duo Daft Punk have announced a forthcoming “Deluxe Box Set Edition” of their fourth studio album Random Access Memories, which was released to critical acclaim earlier this year. The announcement was made via a competition at the New York Comic Con.

According to Consequence of Sound, a mysterious brief case stamped with the instantly recognisable Daft Punk logo arrived during NYCC weekend in a fairly conspicuous manner––carried by its own private, suited-up security force.

New York Comic Con attendee Janelle Rodriguez, the winner of the competition, announced the existence of the RAM special edition via Twitter, elatedly dispatching, “Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories – Deluxe Box Set Edition is coming and I won the first signed copy At #NYCC!”

Rodriguez’ tweet was then shared by Columbia Records, Daft Punk’s label. In a postscript, Rodriguez added that she had not yet been given a physical copy of the re-release, explaining that it is “not made yet,” though said she’s expecting it to be delivered on or before 31st December.

According to Manchester music blog Harder Blogger Faster, the Deluxe Box Set Edition will contain a two-disc copy of Random Access Memories, with the album and Japanese bonus track Horizon on disc one.

Disc two meanwhile will feature Daft Punk’s remix of Get Lucky, new Daft Punk remixes of singles Lose Yourself to Dance and Instant Crush, as well as more previously unreleased tracks.

There will also be a DVD including the collaborators series videos, the Get Lucky teasers, the Lose Yourself To Dance video, a Random Access Memories unboxing video, a Get Lucky remix teaser, and the video for Instant Crush.

The box set is reportedly slated for a 31st December release. Paul Williams, who collaborated with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories, retweeted a link to the Harder Blogger Faster article, indicating that the contents run-down may be genuine.

Released back in May, Daft Punk’s long-awaited fourth studio effort Random Access Memories has been one of their most successful albums to date, selling 2.5 million copies worldwide and yielding one of their biggest singles ever, Get Lucky, a collaboration with Pharrell and Nile Rodgers.
