Written by John Ritchie on March 9, 2011

Alice in Chains original bass player Mike Starr has been found dead. Starr’s body was found in a Salt Lake City house, a police spokesman said.

Currently police can not elaborate on the circumstances of his death until an autopsy has been carried out

Last month Mike was arrested for having Xanax and Opana pills that he did not have a prescription for, he had 6 pills of each.

Starr left Alice in chains in the 1990s, and lead singer Layne Staley, who suffered from drug addiction, died in 2002.

Tributes were posted on Starr’s website, after his death was reported.

This is a sad day in music for every 90’s grunge fan.
