Pop music is filled with tales of Spinal Tap-like mishaps, Steven Tyler once famously walked off stage after the first song because the band had reversed their setlist. Rock & roll historians can now add Alicia Keys to those annals, after she threw a party in the wrong house.
The R&B singer and her super-producer husband Swizz Beatz had been enjoying a stay in New York’s beachside cache for the high-class, the Hamptons. The pair and some friends came to their apparent home one night and proceeded to make themselves comfortable in the posh rental property.
Sources close to Keys told Page Six that the couple and their friends were somewhat startled when the owner of the home in which they’d partying until the early hours of the morn, came downstairs to greet them.
E Online reports that the owner of the property had been asleep in her upstairs bedroom and assumed that the noise downstairs was her daughter and her friends, who’d been out to a bar that night. “She assumed that the noise was that they’d all returned home,” an insider said.
No cops were called, as the understandably freaked out owner quickly recognised the Grammy-winning songstress and what was described as a “late-night VIP area.” Both parties reportedly had a good laugh about the situation and after some hearty chuckles, Keys and co. left the woman’s curiously unlocked home.
