Arcade Fire Perform New Music At Intimate Surprise Show

Arcade Fire are in New Orleans at the moment for Voodoo Fest, but on Saturday night they surprised fans with a secret pop up show at New Orleans’ Secondline Stages.

Frontman Win Butler was joined a by a small group of friends and lucky new faces, and previewed a whole bunch of new music with his band.

According to The Times Picayune, around 175 fans in Halloween costumes rocked up to see the band play “a storm of dynamic danceable rock” which will likely appear on their next studio album — the follow-up to 2013’s Reflektor — which is expected in the second half of 2017.

“The new music, driven by percussive-heavy beats with a flavor of disco, had a sharp focus on weighty topics,” according to The Times Picayune.

Punters were told to arrive at 9pm at the venue, and their mobile phones were confiscated at the door. The venue was dressed up in Halloween decorations, and Win Butler started off the night by performing a DJ set, before later in the night the full contingent of Arcade Fire performed.

14 songs were performed in total, including a cover of the Ghostbusters Theme with altered lyrics.

Arcade Fire will perform at Voodoo Fest at 12:30pm Monday, AEDT, which you can stream here.
