Arctic Monkeys Debut New Track ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ Live

Arctic Monkeys have debuted a new track by the name of Do I Wanna Know? during a recent gig at the Ventura Theater, California. Although audio quality isn’t crisp, Do I Wanna Know? sounds as though it chugs along, somewhat working a typical Arctic Monkeys’ swinging melody together with a weighty guitar riff.

From the live recording it appears that frontman Alex Turner wasn’t lying when he said Arctic Monkeys would go in a heavier direction on their next album. The English band has been working away on their fifth studio album in the Californian desert.

Drummer Matt Helders recently told NME that the band is no hurry as they chip away at the follow-up to 2011 album Suck It and See:

“I have been in the desert… with motorcycles. Not with Josh (Homme), no. The band’s just been working together, the band working on our own so far, writing and stuff.

“There’s no time deadlines or anything like that for release. We’re just getting back into it, because it always takes a while to get back into it.”

That said fans should still expect the new Arctic Monkeys album this year with Helders indicating the record is sounding very “2013” and that it’d be “stupid if we made a 2013 album and released it next year.”
