Commuters across the nation have been forced to travel to work in silence (or worse — to the soul-chafing sounds of commercial radio), as triple j and other ABC radio stations were knocked out cold for around an hour this morning.
Twitter exploded with punters from Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, Melbourne and beyond melting down after being left in silence by their morning companions Ben & Liam between 7:45am AEDT and 8:45am AEDT, and on Like A Version day, no less!
.@triplej's broadcast is down right now. Repeat: triple j is down.

ICYMI (which it seems pretty much everyone did), The Preatures were in the triple j studios for Like A Version, and covered Arcade Fire’s recent single ‘Everything Now’.
The triple j broadcast was knocked out across both digital and analogue platforms, with some listeners copping this really annoying error message loop:
wow, #likeaversion is really different this morning… @triplej #newcastletriplej #newcastle #disruption pic.twitter.com/f5shqE84I9

Probs still better than listening to Kyle & Jackie O, though.
Triple j released a statement apologising for the technical difficulties, and promising that Like A Version will be online “soon”.
Sorry! We’re experiencing tech problems with the transmitter around parts of the country but we promise Like A Version will be online soon ? pic.twitter.com/arzXKGzWGW

Now that the station is back online, have a gander at some of the internet’s best reactions to this morning’s radio meltdown, below.
@triplej must have switched over to the @NBN_Australia no link to the transmitter in Wollongong. Emergency broadcasting in place. #auspol

Wow, I can't believe that @ThePreatures covered John Cage's 4'33" for #likeaversion a great interpretation. Thanks @triplej
