Azealia Banks Ends SITG Set After 25 Minutes

One of the most-anticipated acts of this year’s Splendour in the Grass, Azealia Banks, was forced to end her set early after what has been described as massive sound issues, throwing in the towel around 25 minutes after she began her set.

The ‘212’ hit maker received copious amounts of love following the release of her 2012 EP ‘1991’. The rapper hailing from Harlem even landed on NME’s 2011 ‘Cool List’ given the hype surrounding her then blossoming career.

Fans were over the moon with her name appearing on Splendour posters given the short period of time between the release, which dropped in May, and the Festival, taking place this weekend. Though unfortunately it appears we celebrated too soon. Twitter has come alive with Splendourians wondering just what went down after nothing official was announced to those in the crowd. While it may have appeared to some that she quit, Music Feeds photographer Zoltan Blazer was quick to phone into our HQ with an update that it was indeed technical issues.

Those who had waited to see Banks soon became a very confused mob. The end result was a mass exodus from the Mix Up tent, where she was performing, towards Supertop, where the main stage will soon be graced by The Smashing Pumpkins. Head on over to our live updates page for everything you need to know!

FasterLouder were also hot on the chase, tweeting the news and fans also tweet that they were cut by the short set.
