Bloc Party have announced sideshows on the back of their appearance on the Future Music Festival 2013 lineup this March. They’ll be playing three shows, including one at the Riverstage in Brisbane, one at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, and then one at the Festival Hall in Melbourne.
They are a band that needs little introduction, having visited us at Splendour in the Grass last year, where the newly reformed group were only just showing off their latest album Four, an album released after a lengthy hiatus. They’ll now return to our shores within a year to finish off showcasing their efforts.
Having risen to fame in the mid-2000s, their 2005 debut album Silent Alarm has become an indie classic, and gave rise to a slew of anthems, including So Here We Are, Banquet and Helicopter. The success of this album was mirrored in 2007 with the release of follow-up A Weekend in the City, which spawned hits The Prayer, I Still Remember and Hunting For Witches.
Tickets on sale this Friday, 25th January.
