Chet Faker Shaves Beard, Teases New Music “In Next Few Days”

Chet Faker‘s famous beard has officially left the building, but it’s not all bad news. The producer extraordinaire has announced that he’ll be dropping new music “in the next few days” in collaboration with his mate Marcus Marr, a DJ from London.

Chet Faker (real name Nick Murphy) took to Instagram today to give the world a heads-up of his new tunes, but fans seem to be more concerned with his beardless mug, with some digging the new look and others being left a little confused. Here are just a few examples:

This year, Murphy has been working on the follow-up to his debut album Built On Glass at his home studio in Brooklyn, New York. He has previously said the album will be “heavily performance-based”, with more organic grooves and less electronics.

Murphy’s new music with Marcus Marr follows a string of other recent collaborations, including a track rework with American singer BANKS and some soulful new tracks with Melbourne band The Cactus Channel.

Aside from hanging out with Unknown Mortal Orchestra frontman Ruban Nielson, Murphy has previously told triple j he’s also been working with the likes of house producer Todd Terje and German composer/producer Nils Frahm.

Murphy is set to kick off his final Built On Glass Australian tour later this month, before headlining the biggest Australian Boiler Room event to date in Melbourne this November.
