Cloud Control, Skegss & The Belligerents Lead 2017 Grow Your Own Festival Lineup

Written by Tom Williams on September 12, 2017

New South Wales’ Grow Your Own music festival is back for its second year, after making its debut on the mid-north coast in 2016.

The one-day summer festival will return this December, topped by the likes of indie kids Cloud Control, Byron Bay rockers Skegss and space cadets The Belligerents, as well as acts like The Babe Rainbow, The Gooch Palms, Alex The Astronaut and Ruby Fields. Peep the full lineup, below.

“Our lineup this year is filled with bands who grow their own paths in music and always, most always, grow away from the pack,” says Grow Your Own Director Holly Rankin (aka Jack River).

“They’ve taken the path less travelled, they’ve made their own thing in the darkness of the times — it’s bright and real and colour-filled.”

This year’s festival theme is ‘Growth In Dark Times’, as the festival’s Creative Director Lee McConnell explains:

“Taking influence from the natural beauty of our area we are shining light on positive and creative aspects that can come from such a turbulent political time. Our art direction this year was to run parallel with the curation of the lineup — a psychedelic rock feel with fluro colours.

“As the sun sets on 2017, the illuminated creatures come out to play.”

Grow Your Own 2017 will be held in Forster-Tuncurry on Friday, 22nd December, and will showcase homegrown talent, fresh produce, local clothing labels and more.
