Crowded House Drummer Peter Jones Has Died

Crowded House drummer Peter Jones died on Friday following a battle with brain cancer, news.com.au reports.

A statement was posted on the official Crowded House website earlier today: “We are in mourning today for the death of Peter Jones. We remember him as a warm hearted, funny and talented man, who was a valuable member of Crowded House. He played with style and spirit. We salute him and send our love and best thoughts to his family and friends.” – Crowded House and Roundhead Studios.

Peter Jones replaced original drummer Paul Hester after he quit the band in 1994. Hester committed suicide in 2005 following a battle with depression.

Jones also played with Ross Hannaford, Rowland S. Howard, Lisa Miller and Tinpan Orange. He recently recorded drums on the 2012 debut album from Melbourne band Lucy’s Crown.
