Daft Punk World Tour Rumoured For 2017

Rumours are flying around the internet that Daft Punk are gearing up to announce a world tour for 2017.

It all started when a mysterious new website dubbed Alive 2017 materialised out of nowhere, which is pants-poopingly exciting in and of itself.

ICYMI: Daft Punk have only ever toured the world twice, on their Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 tours, so the significance of Alive 2017 is obvious, considering the electronic duo’s once-a-decade touring tradition.

But, not satisfied by this morsel alone, some HTML-savvy Redditors have hacked into the new website’s source code to extract some more tasty tidbits.

As NME reports, the website holds a bunch of hidden numbers which users on Reddit and tumblr have identified as coordinates for locations in Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Indio CA.

However, as one Redditor has pointed out, the Indio coordinates also give a location “pretty close to Perth”:

What’s more, the site’s source code also contains the line “WAKE DATE 2016-10-27”, which is exactly one month after the site was created, suggesting that we’ll find out whether or not the hitmakers will be touring ~one more time~ on Thursday, 27th October.

And in case you’re wondering – yep. Daft Punk visited Australia during both of their last tours, both as part of the now long-dead Apollo festival (which took place in early 1998) and in 2007, when their entire world tour wrapped up in Sydney.

Could Australia Get Lucky again in 2017?

Of course, the whole thing could just be an elaborate hoax (this is the internet we’re talking about). But we’ll keep you updated with more information as it develops.
